Foam latex prosthetic application techniques vary based on experience level and product knowledge. Here are the basics:
PREP
Check the prosthetic for size and placement before gluing. Using fingers, gently pull away any feathery flashing from the edge (if needed), being careful not to rip the blending edge. Check the backside and carefully scissor off any bumps, such as the injection plug.
APPLY
Apply silicone adhesive or Pros-Aide evenly to the back of the appliance, making sure the edges don’t fall over or curl.
Lightly place it into position, then press firmly from the center outward using even pressure
PERFECT
Blend edges using liquid latex (or eyelash glue if near the eye area) or Pros-Aide and let dry.
Seal the appliance by stippling the same material used above thinly and evenly over the prosthetic.
Let dry and powder to remove any stickiness.
COLOR
Color as desired with either Rubber Mask Grease, Pax Paint, or alcohol-activated pigments.
REMOVAL
Use the appropriate remover for the adhesive used to glue the prosthetic. Apply the remover with a swab or brush, working from the edges inward to loosen the adhesive so you can gently lift the appliance.
